In the heart of the storm, lightning flashed, illuminating the world in brilliant, blinding bursts. Thunder roared like the angered beast itself, shaking the very ground beneath their feet. The air was thick with the smell of ozone and rain, the sky a churning mass of black clouds that seemed to reach down and swallow them whole. Rain lashed at their faces, stinging like needles, as they struggled to stay upright in the howling wind.
